Six magnums of 1971 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti (DRC) La Tache will lead Sotheby’s upcoming Finest and Rarest Wines sale.
They will be sold as a single lot, with an estimate of $65,000-85,000.

DRC Burgundies are highly prized by collectors due to their quality and the low yields produced at the vineyard.
Less than 2,000 cases of La Tache are bottled each year, the majority of which are quickly snapped up and resold on the secondary market.
Burgundy isn’t the only region up for grabs.
A collection of 21 magnums of varying vintages from California’s Harlan Estate will be offered with an estimate of $22,000-32,000.
Harlan is one of California’s most respected winemakers and has the auction results to match.
A 10 bottle vertical selection (1987-1996) sold for a record $700,000 in 2000.

“Not often, if ever, do you see parcel quantities of pristine Biondi-Santi Riservas from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, together with Burgundy treasures like the magnificent 1971 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti La Tache, in both bottles and magnums, alongside a 10-bottle lot of the truly rare and historic 1971 Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Eisele’.”
