The Macallan's special edition Millennium Decanter has sold as the lead item in a Glasgow auction of Rare & Collectible Whisky, Wine & Port.

Held yesterday (February 6), the auction saw the 50-year-old whisky sell for £6,500 ($10,211). As its name suggests, the decanter was part of a limited release from the illustrious distillery created to celebrate the millennium.

The same auction house held a sale dedicated to The Macallan in October 2012, which saw the 50-year-old Anniversary Malt Limited Edition sell 100.6% above estimate to achieve a new auction record for a bottle of its type.
